::.BRUNEI    DX-PEDITION 2003.::

I was active under the callsign V8AQZ from Dandar Seri Begawan city , in
Sultanate of Brunei from 17 to 28 Nov. 2003.

My station was located in the 5th floor (hotel), antennas on the flat roof, and
my working conditions were:

IC 706MK2G / 100w / headset Heil proset HC4 & 5
32 Amp s mode PSU
MFJ-945E mobile tuner
Ant: 1> Windom FD3 20m long for 10/20/40m (+ 80/17/12m with tuner)
Ant: 2> 1/2 wave center fed Vertical (Home made) for 15m
Ant: 3> Full wave Quad loop for 10m

The 21 Nov. I had the oportunity to use beams antennas in a best location.

I was only active time to time in HF SSB, and propagation was not very
good
during my stay!
In the local morning time , HF bands were quiet. It beginn only in the afternoon
around 2 p.m , on the high HF bands.
80m and 40m was not good to use , all the time I had QRM up to 57-59 from
Pirates stations (fishers, Indonesians ...) as well as broadcast interferences.
20m was also bad to use, I had alternating QRN up to 57 all the time,
maybe
caused by equipments in an Hospital, located in the same area.
10m was nearly dead, just time to time a little opening to Pacific and
Asia.
So my best bands were 17/15/12m.There,I had some nice and disciplined pile-up
whith JA stations, thank's to them! Europe was workable on 17m and sporadicaly
on 12 and 20m. America was silent to me, as I worked only 1 US stations,
and a few South American stations ....

Finally my log contain 1370 QSO into 71 DXCC

I would like to thank's my local friends there , that I met for the second
time, especially : V85RH, V8AZM and all other from HF group who visited
me...Their
help and kindness was great !
Thank's also to IZ8CCW for QSL management and web service.

73 de V8AQZ Flo.
