Dear friends,
On April 7, 2007, a devastating fire destroyed Kadek’s house in Bali. In the process, most of his family belongings were lost, including his radio equipment. Kadek’s contributions to IOTA are known by virtually all island chasers as he brought us many unforgettable moments over the years. He was a constant powerful force in carrying our activations of rare and new IOTAs, as well as providing QSL services for even more IOTAs from Indonesia. At this time of distress for him and his family, island chasers and hams all over the world would like to express their support and encouragement for their friend.
This page is dedicated to a fund meant to assist Kadek in the rebuilding of his radio shack. The project has moved forward rapidly following discussions I had with Mauro (I1JQJ), Roger (G3KMA), Shu (JN6RZM) and Peter (VK3QI), to name a few. Ant (IZ8CCW) agreed to host his page on the MDXC site and worked enthousiastically to set it up. Al (K8SIX) and Alain (F6BFH), who independently sought gathering local support for the same cause, graciously joined in. We hope that island chasers will gladly contribute to this collection and thus offer Kadek a token of appreciation that will be instrumental in helping him to get back on the air as soon as his family situation will permit.
Contributions are accepted at several regional collection points, as indicated below, from now until July 1, 2007. The list of donors will be updated periodically on this page.

Kadek’s support to IOTA operations by Roger (G3KMA) Kadek’s great service to the IOTA community was
targeting IOTA groups for activation and then
inspiring his friends to go, particularly in the YB7,
8 and 9 call areas. This required leadership skills and a degree of enthusiasm that was infectious.
Over a period of several years he applied
systematic attention to getting numerous YB groups
activated and just a handful remain. He went on
relatively few DXpeditions himself but he helped
his friends with the logistics, simple equipment,
antennae and, above all, encouragement.
Most importantly, Kadek took on the QSL manager
role of the operations he sponsored and many others.
When he heard that an operation had given bad QSLing
service or was unfamiliar with mass QSLing or had
an unreliable postal service, he intervened to get missing
cards or the full log. His service was exceptionally good.
